WHAT IS SCSBC?

The Society of Christian Schools in British Columbia (SCSBC) is an association of more than 40 autonomous schools comprised of 8,000 students and 500 teachers from kindergarten through grade 12. SCSBC schools transcend denominational and ethnic groupings. It is a community in which schools strengthen each other in living the gospel of Jesus Christ in teaching and learning. It is, for the most part, an Evangelical Protestant group. The society is governed by a nine member board that is elected by member schools. The SCSBC assists its members in shaping a visionary direction for their school that implements a Christian world view across all dimensions of learning: spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, aesthetic, ethical and physical. In their advisory role, the service of SCSBC staff extends to virtually all aspects of education.

Since teachers and administration are very involved in the daily activities of teaching and learning, SCSBC assists and enables the school community to further implement a Christian vision of teaching and learning. Curriculum handbooks, board workshops, staff development and government liaison are other examples of the work of SCSBC.
